Education:

I, Benjamin Thomas Kowalewski, am a Product Engineer for the Commercial Aircraft Division of Moog Inc. in East Aurora New York.  I have a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

My strengths in school have always been in math and science.  I have a strong foundation in the disciplines of calculus, classical mechanics, and thermodynamics.   My most technical studies include propulsion systems, fluid dynamics, and numerical methods.  But ultimately, I am most passionate about using available software tools and high performance computing to aid in the development of products and services.  I have had exposure to computers since I was very young (before the age of 6), and have been fascinated by their power to transform information in useful ways ever since.

My skills include:

  • 3D Solid Modeling
  • 2D Drafting with experience in GD&T
  • Detailed Design of Mechanical Components and Assemblies
  • Technical Writing and Documentation
  • Advanced Simulation and Analysis (CAE)
  • 2D Digital Art
  • Environmental Testing and Test Procedure/Equipment Design
  • Data Processing and Analysis
  • Computer Programming
  • Video Game Design and Balancing
  • Simple Web Design
  • Communication
  • Adaptability
  • Fast-Learning
  • Team-Oriented

Software that I have significant experience with (40 hours +) includes:

  • Origin (Data review and plotting)
  • NX4 (3D CAD, 2D Drafting)
  • Teamcenter (Product Life-cycle Management)
  • Microsoft Excel (Various Spreadsheet Uses, Data Processing and Review)
  • Microsoft Word (Technical Report writing and Documentation)
  • Microsoft Powerpoint (Presentations)
  • MATLAB (data processing, plotting, computation, simulation, CFD, FEA)
  • Pro/Engineer (3D CAD, 2D Drafting)
  • AutoCAD (2D Drafting)
  • NX6 (3D CAD, Advanced Simulation, CFD)
  • SolidWorks (3D CAD, Motion Simulation, FEA)
  • Cakewalk Sonar (Sound Recording and Music Production)
  • Garage Band (Sound Recording and Music Production)
  • Paint Shop Pro (2D Digital Media)
  • Warcraft III World Editor (Video Game Scripting and Development)

Personal Bio:

My desire to become an engineer was driven by my skills in math and science, which carried on through my high school education and college.  In addition, my father is an Electrical Engineer, and the success and fulfillment he received from his carrier motivated me to follow in his footsteps.  While my skills and personal interests are quite diverse, I have a passion for creativity and I like to embody this passion in my work.  Additional interests of mine include model rocketry, modern 1A-class yo-yoing, playing guitar and making music, inline skating, trampoline, hiking and camping, video games, movies, and skiing.
